A little too irreverent!

I heard that this book was a great Christian satire. It's not - just sarcasm and venom. First of all, if you're not British, its almost incomprehensible - most of the "so-called" humor will be lost on Americans - its so obscure and British. I read the whole book - thinking there must be a message or some alternative idea - there wasn't. If you're cup of tea is mocking everything about church, Christians, Spirit-filled Believers, and God Himself - you'll love this book.
I thought there would be a message in the humor - instead the author makes fun of everything sacred to Christians. I read the other reviews on Amazon and they were all raving and raving about how funny this book is - so I bought it. My mistake for listening to them. Anyone can mock, make fun, and criticize - but you should have an alternative if you do - this author doesn't.
He constantly promotes drinking and even drunkenness - and smoking - which I hate to see in a "so-called" Christian book because of teenagers and young people.
Yes, there are some funny things in the book. I was trying to overlook several implied, mild vulgarities - until he describes a dream he has and uses one of the events at the Cross while Jesus was hanging there suffering and dying - as joke. That was it for me.
I'm sure that the products of the modern, man-centered Gospel will love the vulgarities and the mockery of church and Christians - and everything holy - but I don't - I felt convicted about reading it.
I wasted my money - and I'm sorry. The book is now in the trash can. I live in a major city where the local newspaper says that after 10 pm - 50% of the drivers on the freeways are legally drunk. I think drinking is promoted enough by the alcohol industry without "so-called" Christian writers helping. Maybe its a great and wonderful thing where the writer lives - but I work with alcoholics who are addicted and have lost everything. That's not very funny.
Christian Beware!!!!! Buy a Bible study book instead.
