Fundmantal Property Investment Knowledge

This book came highly recommended from a friend whom is a successful property investor. Upon his recommendation I read this book cover to cover in just over a day. Although it could be skim read in a few hours. I found it covers the fundamentals of investing in property providing real, actionable, steps for growing a multi-million dollar cash machine. Learning the different levels of investment and comparing that to my situation was sobering and motivational. The four stranded strategic approach rings true based on my experience with property. It also answered my questions of whether to pay down my mortgage or start investing now. I never really understood the final "level 4" investor end game of living off equity and then reducing your LVR to create a cash machine so that helps. In the end I have a realistic understanding of the whole picture and see the need for involving an expert team if you truly want to succeed. Now onto Michael's next book...these books certainly equip you to ponder the pros and cons of having all this debt and assess the wisdom of it and the potential life impacts both good and bad.

Again Michael did not disappoint us.

This book gives all the details of how to become wealth through real estate investing. He starts with few chapters with the basics for beginners and gets deeper into details with each chapter. The topics are well organised to give a flow to the teachings.

With each chapter the information is thoroughly researched and easily presented in a simplified way.

Although the book is about ‘How to grow a multi-million dollar property portfolio in your spare time,’ it is not guaranteed that after reading it you will make millions. However the advice has been working in my real life.

I recommend this book to those who are planning to get into real estate and also those who want to get the knowledge on how to maximise profits from real estate.

Readers must note that the researches and principles are based on Australian economic environment.

A bit technical, but reading it was worth the effort

Dogs and their kin have an extensive fossil record, especially in North America. The authors have recently published three extensive technical monographs on fossil dogs, wolves, coyotes, foxes, etc. based on the unbelievably huge collections at the American Museum of Natural History and elsewhere. This book is essentially a popularization of the technical work, although this volume can be a bit technical in places.

The authors cover the taxonomy of modern Canidae, the origin of carnivores, dogs, and numerous doglike mammals, anatomy, hunting and social activity (not only of modern dogs, but what can be interpreted from fossils), how the evolution of dogs is related to the last 40 million years of climate change, the migration of dogs from North American into the Old World, and a short chapter on domestic dogs.

Included as appendices are listings of all 200 plus fossil and living Canidae species and an evolutionary tree base on the author's research.
The artwork by Antön is wonderfully done with his sketches rivaling his almost photographic looking color paintings in quality. Antön previously has illustrated other books on vertebrate paleontology, including The Big Cats and their Fossil Relatives.

Almost anyone who is interested in dogs and/or vertebrate paleontology should read this book. Natural History magazine has a short non-technical summary article by the authors in July-August '08 issue if you want a good preview. Dr. Wang has a wonderful website with links to much of his research and a pdf of the Natural History article.

A long-awaited work; a great read for both research and leisure

This book encompasses everything that inspired me to pursue paleontological research...the meticulous manner in which the authors document the evolutionary history of dogs, and the unparalleled illustrations that bring those concepts and species to life. The paleontologists who wrote this book are authorities in their fields, and are much respected for the quality of their work. The price tag for the book is a huge understatement of its value. Be glad you are getting such a bargain for a priceless work, just short of picking the brains of the authors themselves!

Bark's as good as Bite!

This book is a great follow-up to The Big Cats and Their Fossil Relatives and like the forementioned it doesn't disappoint! Well researched, well written and accompanied by outstanding illustrations (Mauricio Anton really displays his talents as a reconstructive artist), this book is a treasure to anyone interested in carnivoran evolution. The list of pertinent reference books relating to mammalian evolution is an added bonus. I just wish it could go into more depth on many of the interesting species it reveals to us. A great introduction to canid evolution, you can't go wrong with this one!

A Bad Scan

The comic book format and story is charming but the scan is so poor it can hardly be read--certainly not enjoyed as artwork because of the scan quality. I took joy in the story as presented, which was reasonably true to the facts and legends surrounding the life of this saint. I felt joy in reading this.

The drawings are beautiful. Unfortunately everyone is very white, it would be nice to see a darker skin color used to portray these beloved Indian characters. But this comic was drawn ages ago (in the 1980s or before, not sure) and I loved it as a child, so am very pleased to have found it. Well worth it.

Interesting setups, good action, needs descriptiveness

This has an interesting angle to the genre, with a transformation angle I found enjoyable. The heat-level was good, but I wanted more in the area of description and setup to the scenes.Recommended for fans of the genre, but more general erotica readers may find a couple faults. Not bad though, and an interesting take. Beautiful cover too! Full in-depth review over on my blog.

Patrick Deville is a novelist and French cultural attache. He travels widely and has lived in the Middle East, Africa, south-east Asia and Latin America. The Amazing Life of Alexandre Yersin

This is less a novel than a rather imaginative biography. Its subject is Alexandre Yersin [1863-1943].
Yersin was among the first of a legion of scientists who were to work at the famous Pasteur Institute in Paris. He made numerous contributions to microbiology, principally discovering the plague bacillus, Yersinia pestis. The author also shows him to have been a pioneer in other fields – astronomy, aviation, photography, horticulture to name but a few. He established medical education in Indochina. Today he is venerated in Vietnam, a land he made his home and where he is buried. A remarkable man, a polymath, deserving of a study. How good is this one?
Often the lives of “famous doctors” are recounted by their fellow-professionals. We see the subject mainly at work in the laboratory or on the ward. A few anecdotes are thrown in about the “great man”. The style is worthy but dull.
This is more of a literary essay, quite short, given the achievements of Yersin. Deville places him in the coterie of the Pasteur set. We meet Roux, Calmette, Simond and others as well as the founder himself. We also learn of contemporaries from the arts scene – Joseph Conrad, Céline [who did a PhD at the Pasteur] and especially Rimbaud. Apollinaire and Baudelaire are discussed, too. “Filthy politics” - as Yersin would have it - impacts on the tale. Koch and Pasteur carry on the wars of France and Germany under the microscope. Yersin’s bacteriological discoveries are in here, but as but one aspect of a fantastically filled life.
I don’t think Plague and Cholera is really a novel – there are no fictional characters and no plot. As a biography, it is unusual – it reads like the author is flicking through a photograph album, stopping every now and then to point out something you may not have noticed, skipping the recordings of awards and the prizes for a sepia-tinged shot of a Cambodian plateau.
I had only heard of Y Pestis before I read this. Its discoverer was a truly exceptional individual. I would like to know more about him and his world.
